The Cherokee Rose Inn

The Perfect Getaway

Welcome to the Cherokee Rose Inn, a unique slice of the old South in beautiful Portland, Oregon.

A century-old Craftsman style home in Southeast Portland, the Cherokee Rose is located within an easy stroll of parks, restaurants, and shops. Two short blocks away is access to public transit which will whisk visitors across the Willamette River into downtown Portland and beyond within 10 minutes.

This historic house is a perfect choice for travelers seeking a convenient location from which to explore Portland. It features hearty vegan breakfasts and large, comfortable rooms furnished with antiques. You can enjoy an early morning cup of coffee on the front porch, or join other guests in the parlor for friendly conversation.

A note from Sandy: please read before booking!

Regarding the recent 2-star rating on Trip Advisor:
I am amending my list of pets to one small, friendly dog (Hamish); one large, friendly cat (Bill); and the occasional dust bunny! These shy, elusive creatures usually stay out of sight but sometimes show themselves. If you spot one during your stay, please let me know. It will be humanely trapped and sent to live with a nice family in the country.
On a serious note:
1. In regard to a comment about "vegan environment," be advised that the guest area is scattered with magazines, the bulk of which promote conservation, animal welfare, animal rights, and, yes, the vegan lifestyle. If that is unacceptable to you, please don't plan to stay here.
2. As noted elsewhere on this website, there is only one, shared bathroom for the two guest rooms. During high season you can expect to share it with from one to three other people--maybe even more. If this is a deal-breaker for you, please don't book a room here!
I am truly shaken by the bad review and want everyone who stays here to have a good experience.
